Bill: Cabinet Lorenzo I: Healthcare Freedom Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Progressive Conservative Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4416

Description[?]:

Mr. President,

The Cabinet has agreed to increase the number of healthcare options available to our citizens. We believe that expanding the number of private healthcare clinics in Gaduridos will provide citizens with more treatment options and create additional competition that will drive down healthcare costs. Despite an increase in the number of private clinics, we will still continue to offer our citizens a public healthcare option. Therefore, we propose this Healthcare Freedom Act, which expands the number of private clinics in Gaduridos.

Best regards,

Mona Reyes
Minister of Health and Social Services

MessageMr. President,

After consulting with doctors and patients throughout Gaduridos, we come to the conclusion that we will have to oppose this Bill. Healthcare is something too precious for our citizens to leave up on private clinics who will only try to gain as much coin as they can.

Kind regards,

Paul Serchez
Chairman of the GPA

MessageMs. Reyes, with all due respect, I think this law isn't just inefficient, it's dangerous!
First of all, private hospitals are known for being more expensive than public ones, which means that they will actually increase healthcare costs and not drive them down, due to the facts that health insurances have to pay for overpriced treatments at private hospitals, which will mean higher premiums for everyone.
And second, you propose deregulating private hospitals and not even requiring them to treat their patients well anymore and provide good care, and anyone can see why that is a stupid and dangerous idea.
I ask my fellow lawmakers to reject this bill and ensure the health and safety of Gaduridan citizens and their wallets.

MessageMr Speaker,

I am proud of this government's reform of the Healthcare System. This reform will not eliminate a single government Health Care Facility nor will it make it more difficult for people to access government-sponsored healthcare facilities, instead it will allow private clinics to exist and compete for Citizens Business. Now when a citizen of our great nation is ill or simply looking for medical options the people of our country have a choice they can go to the regular government Health Care Facility or they can find a private Clinic and inquire about pricing and quality of care and make their decision at that point. This will cause competition meaning private clinics will have to keep their quality of care just as high if not higher than the Public Health Service but also their cost low enough to sustain a business. This will challenge our Public Health option to keep up with modern practices and the most relevant Technologies. It's a win for a businesses, it's a win for the average citizen and it's a win for freedom!
