Bill: Cabinet Lorenzo I: Personal Responsibility and Work Incentives Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Progressive Conservative Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 4416

Description[?]:

Mr. President,

This Cabinet is proud of the strong social services our government provides to our citizens. Numerous programs including pharmaceutical drug subsidization, a fully guaranteed child benefit, a public healthcare option, and public housing help ensure that none of our citizens will ever face conditions of extreme poverty. We believe that the core of this social safety net should be preserved, but some reforms are necessary to ensure that our government is incentivizing citizens to utilize their talents and participate in the economy. Therefore, we propose this Personal Responsibility and Work Incentives Act, which places time limitations on the collection of guaranteed minimum income.

Best regards,

Mona Reyes
Minister of Health and Social Services

MessageMs. Reyes the concept you're proposing here is basically:
"If you're poor then just get a job" and I think we all know that that is utter nonsense.
Even with our great unemployment system, not everyone has the opportunity to just stop being poor and get a job.
That means that the only thing this bill will do is leave the poor even poorer, that's it.

Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections.
