Description[?]:
Members of the Senate, Herr Geissler, The NDU recognises that the current policy regardining tuition fee funding is a popular one. However, we need to recognise that, with more students than ever before attending university, this system of funding has become increasingly expensive. We do not wish to penalise those that seek to further their education; indeed, it should be encouraged. As such, the amendment I have proposed reaches a compromise whereby students will only have to repay part of their tuition once they start earning above a certain threshold. I further propose that a threshold be made in consultation with relevant parties e.g. universities, student unions and civil servants. If we were able to reduce the amount spent on currently subsiding every student, we could use the saved money on other areas of education where there is currently a spending shortfall.
