Bill: NDU - 13: Disestablishment Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Nationale Demokratische Union (NDU)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 4422
Description[?]:
While the NDU recognises that Hosianism is the dominant religion in Hulstria and Gao-Soto, we favour a state where no one religion is overtly favoured over another. As such, a key policy platform of our party is for the disestablishment of the church. All religions, as long as they are not deemed to be 'cults', will continue to be recognised and enjoy the rights and privileges they currently do. Aroisu Marutin, Secretary-General of the NDU |

Message | (OOC: I'll take it as read that you said Hosianism and Kamism, since the two are joint state religions. It's an easy mistake to make since the variables do not account for it.) Herr Präsident, The ceremonical practice of the two religions historically associated with Hulstria and Gao-Soto as state religions in certain ritual pertaining in particular to the Imperial dignities of both states are, for us, important references to the moral fabric of the state and representative of the stake both cultures have in the state. Even as an Aurorian myself, I do recognise how important Luthoranism has been in the history of Hulstria, and Kamism in the history of Gao-Soto. Since the Basic Law provides that it should not prejudice the freedom of religion to give these two faiths this particular kind of recognition. In addition, we believe that the present bill as it stands worsens the situation considerably by moving religious affairs from the domain of the Basic Law into the domain of the legislature. This would put considerable pressure on the state's neutrality in religious matters, since the state would now be in the business of judging religious sentiment. I do not think we should go there. shr. ehrw. Klemens Heumayr MdR (HDV - Oberflachland Ost) Staatsminister |
