Date | 12:55:37, July 12, 2018 CET | From | Liberty Party | To | Debating the Press Freedom Act |
Message | Liberty would like to support this act as it is a step in the right direction generally with regard for freedom of the press but article 3 contradicts the supposed purpose of the document by placing the nebulous anti-freedom notion of "hate speech" above free speech. Also, false information? According to who? Government? We are back to square one. We vote no. - Derren Seyne (L-Liberty). |

Date | 18:46:53, July 12, 2018 CET | From | Beluzia Socialist People's Party | To | Debating the Press Freedom Act |
Message | "Philosophically speaking, does free speech really exist. With an right comes a responsibility and given some of the legislation that has appeared before the house regarding vulnerable citizens in the previous two years. we feel it is important to allow for protections. However, we are willing to reintroduce the bill without article three and debate that at a later time. Would Liberty support?" - Cleo Frantzen (education and culture spokesperson) |
Date | 19:40:55, July 12, 2018 CET | From | Liberty Party | To | Debating the Press Freedom Act |
Message | Freedom of speech, that is the right to speak, discuss, reject, criticise behaviour and ideology and inform others of such and to hold these beliefs without fear or favour, forms the backbone of a free society. We will not accept any erosion of this by the far-left on hypothetical grounds while it blatantly cherry picks groups to protect (again for political benefit) to the exclusion of others. |

Random fact: It usually takes up to an hour for election results to generate. During this time, the "Next Election" date is put forward a month, which is confusing. Do not worry! In a short time, the election result will generate and the "Next Election" date will then correct itself. |
