Bill: Military Act V
Details
Submitted by[?]: Lodamun Labour Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 4424
Description[?]:
Members of the Presidium, This military act is a reaction on the Lodamun Defence Act proposed by the Republican Party. Even though the LLP can agree with the Defence Act we have seen that a large number of the proposals go against the values of the coalition partners of the LLP. In solidarty with our coalition partners the LLP will abstain from voting on the Lodamun Defence Act. However the PSP, SHP and LLP see the necessity of a strong army with enough capabilities. For this reason the LLP proposes the following bill, which takes into account the values of the PSP and SHP. Richard Buwalda, LLP MP on Defence |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Not only do we disagree with this bill on the basis of our objection to a bloated and expensive military, but we want to focus on one specific article: the article concerning the appointment of military officers. Currently, our army is a democratic institution, effective because officers have the trust of the common soldiers, since they know who they are. This bill would politicize military appointments, paving the way for croniesm in our military. This wouldn’t increase its effectiveness, but limit it. Alexander Graham, Shadow Minister of Defense for the Liberal Progressives |

Message | Mr Speaker, This is disappointing. We put our legislation forward on the basis that the Labour Party we're going to back it in its proposed form. We would've compromised if Labour had requested it. We are disappointed in the skullduggery of the Labour Party. Thomas McDonald Leader of the Republican Party |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We thank the honourable MP Buwalda for submitting this proposal. The coalition has already discussed this proposal in length and we are looking forward to its implimentation. Jeremiah Gottwald SHP MP on Defence |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The PSP joins the sentiment spoken out by our esteemed colleague Gottwald from the SHP, and want to applaud the LLP for coming to a compromise that works for our military, that works internationally, and one that works politically. This is a better way forward, and we support that way. Maria Johnson PSP MP |

Message | Mr. Speaker, My party understands the dissapointment of the Republicans. However the LLP isn't the only party in the Presidium. The PSP and SHP responded to the Lodamun Defence Act, yet didn't recieve an adequate response. The LLP believes that this bill still upholds much of the Republicans plans for the military and we would invite the Republicans to support this bill. Richard Buwalda, LLP MP on Defence |
