Bill: Election of Mayors Act 4424
Details
Submitted by[?]: Secular Humanist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 4425
Description[?]:
Mr. Speaker, We propose to change the manner in which mayors are elected. Currently they are elected directly by the people this is troublesome as a mayor can be elected who is opposed to or cannot properly work with the municipal councils. We therefore propose that the municipal council, which is elected by the people, elects the new mayor. This promotes the capability for cooperation between the mayor and the municipal council. Alexander Prince, MP SHP Party Leader |
Proposals
Article 1

Old value:: Citizens elect their mayor directly in a local election.

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action. |
