Bill: Public Transport Funding Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Republican Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 4426

Description[?]:

Given the limited resources available to the government we propose that the current unlimited free public transport current available to citizens is replaced with a funding scheme that includes some payment from users. Naturally those who require extra support will receive it, but those who can pay should offer some contribution to the funding our our public transport system.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Many years ago, when the Ecosocialist Party begun before its years of inactivity, we helped the nation to be able to travel freely all over the country. Being able to travel and to see more than your front- and back door is a human right in our opinion. Also: fees on public transport will increase travel by car, which is not sustainable. The beautiful nature this country has must be accessible by citizens, without limits. Therefore, we cannot support this change - it is contradictory to everything we stand for.

MessageMr. Speaker,

This is a necessary step on the way to privatising the public transport in this country and it has our full support.
