Message | The New Liberal Alliance believes in freedom from government surveillance and the appropriate rule of law. It is unacceptable and illiberal for those who have not committed a crime to have their forensic data collected and held, as is the current policy. This bill, proposed by the NLA to the Socialist government, will restrict future forensic data to those who have been convicted of a crime only. So as not to incur costs on the government, this will not be binding on collected data. However, an NLA government will allow those with no criminal record to apply to have their forensic data deleted. Zandra Arnold Leader of the New Liberal Alliance |

Message | We fully support this proposal. We encourage the NLA to go further, as a matter of fact, and ban the collection of DNA all together. Or if they like, they might withdraw this bill and we will propose it. We thank the NLA for proposing this- It has been an oversight of our Government that we did not propose it years ago. We Yield. Message | The New Liberal Alliance believes that limited data collection can be integral for criminal investigations. As a compromise position, the NLA amends the bill to incorporate the deletion of now non-compliant forensic data. |
