Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: July 4427
Description[?]:
Due to the need to slightly amend the language in NLA's bill after it went to vote, the SPoK presents the following act which explicitly excludes school selection based on economic or social characteristics, and adds more language with regard to tracking A Bill to allow a system of selective schools. Article 2: Disambiguation (Amended) a) This Bill shall not affect legislation regarding the National Curriculum, which shall remain at all schools. b) This Bill shall allow those schools which adopt selective acceptance criteria to establish a tracking programme to determine whether students would be better suited to higher education, a vocational trade, or a creative career as early as 6th grade. Selection in secondary school may be based on these tracks. c) Under no circumstances may economic or other social criteria be used to determine selection criteria, nor may economic or other social criteria be used in selection of students. Selection, where it exists must be based exclusively on ability and/or interest of the student. |
