| Message | The Socialist Party is long on its record of opposing nuclear power and nuclear weaponry. We therefore will oppose this bill. There are a number among us who see nuclear power as a clean energy alternative, and would support the bill if not for the lack of a definitive and permanent solution to the twin problems of potential nuclear disaster and pollution caused by expended fuel. We cannot condone nuclear power. It is better when the Government took no stance on the matter and let it develop on its own, or not, depending on the efforts of the National Power Grid. We didn't work to stop it, but we cannot vote to help it. With regret, the Socialist Party will vote against this proposal when it comes to a vote. |
