MessageMr Speaker,

The Conservative Democrats believe that the position of mayor should not be politicized. The mayor stands above the parties, and represents all citizens alike.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Electing mayors will only cause the quality of majors to go down. The municipal councils are already elected, they can than select which mayor best fits the roll. The system is already democratic. We do not support this change.

MessageMr Speaker,

Are the LLP really insinuating that elected officials are poor quality? That is an interesting argument, perhaps we should consider abolishing the elected Head of State, presumably they are also of poor quality?

MessageMr. Speaker,

To the leader of the Republicans I want to say, quality to go down doesn't mean it will be poor quality. With this you politicize the office of mayor, which we do not support.
