MessageMr Speaker,

If we must change the size of the legislature, we'd prefer to reduce its size. We will oppose any increase.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Although there are many seats in the Presidium and it has been hard, at times, to keep up with all MP’s of a different party, with the increase in parties it has become far more manageable to keep up. This bill would also reciting the current unoccupied-seats issue. The Liberal Prgoressives support this proposal.

We appreciate the Republican Party Leader's input. We will therefore change the proposed seat amount to 595.

MessageMr. Speaker,

while we understand the reasoning behind this proposed change, we fail to see the benefits of it. The proposed number is hardly less than the current number of MPs. Also, a number of 599 makes sure we can have an easy headcount on voting.
If the only reason for the proposed number would be having equal representation in each Province, we have to oppose.

MessageMr Speaker,

If this fails we could always go back to the old system whereby the 599 seats were distributed according to population. This led to a one region having one less seat that the other regions, which doesn't really represent major malapportionment.
