Bill: Education Standardization Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Lodamun Labour Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 4430
Description[?]:
Members of the Presidium, Under the previous cabinet homeschooling was once again introduced in Lodamun. The LLP has been a strong opponent of homeschooling, we believe that every citizen has a right and should follow a certain standard of education. With homeschooling allowed we can't guarantee that standard. For this reason the Lodamun Labour Party asks the Presidium and the Minister of Education and Culture to reinstate the ban on homeschooling. Tucker Offer, LLP MP on Education |

Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Education for children under adult age.
Old value:: Education is compulsory, but home schooling is permitted.
Current: Education is compulsory and has to happen at school.
Proposed: Education is compulsory and has to happen at school.

Message | Mr Speaker, Once again the Labour Party introduce rubbish to the Presidium. "Every citizen has a right" they say, but to a narrowly defined version of education of which the only selling point is that it has to be within a certain standard. Then they say that there is no gaurentee of that certain standard. Well newsflash then by the same token that standard can't be gaurenteed anywhere, there are plenty of failing schools that provide low quality education, but Labour prefers this to even the thought of a small number of children being homeschooled. The right to education should include what is right for the child, not forcing children into an environment that might not be suitable for them. Regina Miller Republican leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We don't agree with re-instituting this ban. There are children who may not be able to meet the standard of the state through our schools, so we believe the option of homeschooling should be there for them to have the freedom to try such a method to meet such standards. Message | Mr Speaker, Home schools can be regulated by the government. If schools are inspected, there is a national curriculum and standardised testing we fail to see how home schools are any more risky than standard schools. Regina Miller Republican Leader |
