Description[?]:

Mutanabbian Law on Alcohol

Senators,

The health, social, and spiritual risks of alcohol are well known. It is hypocritical for us to ban the sale and consumption of dangerous substances when the most dangerous widely available drug is freely available with minimal regulations. Since a proposal to fully ban the consumption of alcohol is unlikely to be accepted, we propose the introduction of a government monopoly on the production and sale of all alcoholic products, as allowed under monopoly legislation. This way we will be able to have greater control over the amount of alcohol consumed in the Republic and we will be able to reduce the negative effects of alcohol.

MessageIt seems like it will mainly have an impact on the sales, but not in the consumption of alcohol. We don’t see how giving the government the control over alcohol production will help Selucia.

MessageAn alcohol monopoly would help us set prices, control quality, eliminate products with an excessively high alcohol content, and most importantly would allow us to use the revenue generated by sales to fund health programmes designed to protect against the harmful effects of alcohol consumption.
