Nation description:

Baltusia is a mix of cultures and ethnicities, and is considered the “melting pot” of Terra. From the Egelian influenced culture and architecture in the south, to the old Luthorian styles in the north, a remnant of the post-colonial nature still adherent even thousands of years later.

Regional Descriptions:

Attano (Currently Lindar Valley) - Attano used to be home to a significant Canrillaise population, but over the years they have been reduced to an extremely small minority, so much so that the so called “Attano Canrillaise” aren’t included in census statistics. But it’s previous culture definitely shows in the state’s architecture, especially in the capital, Castella (will probably be changed to New Valois). The state is home to many rolling hills, and boasts the north Seleyan mountain range, attracting tourists far and wide. Towns are small and are home to small department stores, as opposed the the capital, which is home to numerous service providers. Attano’s real life equivalents are derived from the old French colony of Louisiana, mainly the deep south and parts of the midwest.

Westbrook (Currently Terrarkokka) - Home to most of Baltusia’s native population, along with a significant Dundorfian minority, tourists to the region will quickly note the Luthorian and native languages written on road signs, mainly in the Mashacara (RLE: Cherokee) and Shinjalan (RLE: Apache) languages. Flanked by the north Seleyan range in the East, a popular saying amongst fellow Baltusians is that people from Westbrook are the happiest in the world, due to them being cut off from society. Aside from this trope, services thrive in the region, mainly in the form of logging and some limited agriculture. Westbrook’s real life equivalents mainly come from the northeast, in the Appalachian mountain states, like West Virginia, and some slight influences from New England.

Ralston (Currently Gevaro, New name probably will be changed) - Most Baltusians call this state their home. Ralston makes use of its mostly flat land by way of farming, often giving it the nickname “the Breadbasket of Seleya”. In the northeast portion of the state, closely bordering Likatonia, many industrial operations are conducted, along with oil refining. The real life equivalent of Ralston is the extreme west, with areas such as Nebraska and the Dakotas.

New Egelion (Currently Albiland) - New Egelion is a mixed bag of ethnicities. A large portion of Baltusians also inhabit the state, along with a significant Egelian minority, so much so that street and highway signs are bilingual, along with the population. Many domestic service providers make their homes here, from local grocery stores to industrial corporations, along with some information providers. The land is mostly the same as Ralston, being mostly flat, with occasional hills. New Egelion’s real life equivalents are somewhat derived from the desert states of Arizona and New Mexico, except New Egelion is lush, rather than barren.

Santiago (Currently Athosia) - The largest amount of ethnic Egelians call this place their home, along with a large chunk of the Indralan population, although Egelion culture is especially reflected in the state capital’s name, Costa de Oro. Santiago is known for its white sandy beaches in the small strip of land that opens Baltusia into the Antanonese ocean. It is often a popular vacation destination also for Luthorian-Baltusians, marvelling at the old Egelian architecture, as well as relaxing in the southernmost regions, which boast a tropical climate. Santiago’s real life equivalent is essentially Florida.

Given your close relationship with our mutual ally Istalia and given our shared belief in democracy as the pre-eminent political system, I believe it is time to try and strike more cordial relations between our two countries.

I would like to invite you or your Foreign Minister to our country to discuss better relations and trade deals - particularly in light of the recent confusion over our sanctions programme against the Socialist Republic of Deltaria after their occupation of southern Jelbania.

Alternatively, I would be delighted to head a delegation to your nation to discuss the situation before your term of office is over.

As the biggest exporter/importer on Majatra and one of the four biggest economies in Terra we have a lot to offer and I think any tie up could be to our mutual benefit.

My regards,

Dr Ershébef Trmékez
Prefect of Vanuku
