| Proposed Legislation Follows * * * Whereas the Imperial Family, Establishment, and offices there of, have of late been rightly exposed as agents of corruption and tyranny contrary to the general good, and the commonwealth. It is rightly seen fit, given the obligation and duty of the legislature to protect aforementioned public interests, including the interests of the minorities of the Union, these including but not limited to the Dranianos, Draddwyr, Dranish and Kazulian peoples. These minorities entitled to as fair treatment from the state as any other. Recognising that in order to protect the people from corruption and tyrannical violence, the power of elements related to the Imperial family must be substantially curbed, this chamber decrees that the following measures be taken to advance such purposes. Recognising the importance of land to the power of the Imperial family, through it's extensive holdings of land in various forms. and the income derived thereof through duties obtained on land held in Feu, freehold or otherwise profited upon by the Imperial family, it is also recognised that such fees levied against the people place an undue burden upon them, and hinder them in their everyday lives. This undemocratic and unfair situation prioritises the wealth of the Imperial family, and advances their interests at the expense of the common good. As such it is ordered that all lands held in Feu, freehold or otherwise by the Imperial Family or lesser nobility shall be forfeited. Lands currently held under these conditions will be henceforth transferred to the government and held in trust. Fees shall only be levied against this land to the extent required to support their upkeep. In protecting the integrity of the government in all of it's actions such to improve the conditions of the people and protect their fundamental rights and freedoms as guaranteed by our state, elements of corruption must be distanced from the actions of government, It is also of vital importance that the actions of Dankuk on the international stage, rightfully ordered by this legislature, are not obstructed or hindered unduly. Whereas the head of state is nominally the emperor and much power is vested in them, yet by precedent the Imperial Crown remains solely symbolic, it has concerned the Union that of late that reports have emerged that the Empress may be willing to turn the armed forces against the rightfully elected legislature. As the threat of the Crown taking illegal and anti-democratic action against the Union and it's government, it is thought to be proper that steps are taken to resolve this, among other issues. It is Hereby Declared that the Imperial Crown shall be dispossessed of the role of Head of State, and of all roles, political, military or otherwise, in the government of this Union. It is further expressly ordered that the title of Head of the Armed Forces is transferred to the Prime Minister. The Imperial Crown shall have no position in the military chain of command. |
