| The following piece of legislation, introduced on 11 February 4459, is the result of a petition started by the SDW. With the required amount of signatures the SDW and the signatories of this proposal ask the government to enact the following bill: The Sejm of the Republic of Valruzia, expressing it's utmost concern for the state of our democracy hereby decides to: 1. Introduce public funding of political campaigns. 2. Introduce financial oversight over political campaigns, requiring each and every one of them to file financial reports about their income and ways it has been achieved on a monthly basis. 3. Prohibits non-private persons from making donations to political campaigns. 4. Limits the amount a single person can donate to a sum of 1,000 VPO. |

| Message | Mr Marshall, This is a great proposal which will balance the right of free speech in the form of donations and real concerns about corruption in the form of the very wealthy and pressure groups paying for policies.. I don't understand how people would be "paying for what they disagree with" as every voter would see his or her party supported according to the level of support it receives. We support this sensible bill but some of the restrictions are too stringent. !,000 zloty sounds too low a limit (we would suggest 5,000 zloty) and monthly reporting sounds too burdensome (how about biannual reports instead). I understand completely why Reforma and the RL wouldnt want this to pass, this would bar them from getting funding from their rich donors.
