MessageThis goes against the secular values of our great nation. Having a state religion leads to eventual religious tension and lack of the freedom to believe, even though it is enshrined in our nation’s law. The PSD can easily see this bill being the start of a religiously motivated legislative agenda by the UHD and cannot support it.

MessageOur agenda is easily viewable (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=582301), we keep no secrets. Within our agenda, we fail to see how legally recognizing our religious traditions will harm anyone. They are free to believe or not believe, worship or not worship as they see fit.

See: "Article VI: Membership and participation of the individual in the Aurorian Patriarchal Church of Kanjor, Theognosian Rite, which is is VOLUNTARY for all within the defined borders of Kanjor. The right of the people to worship their religion freely, as defined by local or national law, shall not be infringed."

It is voluntary. This law merely protects and establishes the importance of the Church within and throughout Kanjor.

Your distaste is understandable. Metzists frequently misunderstand the importance of culture as they believe solely in destroying that which took centuries to build. Likewise, Metzists doctrine doesn't take culture into consideration as people are (apparently) nothing more than vessels for economic output and consumption. Silly Metzists, there is more to life than making widgets.

MessageCulture is crucial for a civilisation, but religion, though it is a subset of culture, is not something our government should enshrine within itself. We can’t allow religion to be considered the most important part of our culture and therefore considered as such. People are individuals and of those, many don’t follow the faith that would become our state religion. What kind of implications for public officials and others could this have in the future?

Sincerely,
Jacques Thomas-Germain

MessageM. Thomas-Germain,

Religion is not the most important piece of religion but it is important and the state is enshrining this important piece of culture with its officialdom.
This law is voluntary. No one is forced into any religion. Many nations have state churches.

What are the implications for public officials? ... That they may have faith in a higher power. What is the fear therein? That they may believe their actions have consequences both on Terra and outside of it?

Such fears of of a VOLUNTARY state religion are unfounded. "Laïcité" simply creates a taboo subject out of faith; it is a negative freedom, the right to NOT be exposed to something or the right NOT to be able to express oneself - How is that not censorship? Kanjor does not have a policy of "laïcité" - never has and hopefully it never will.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).
