| Message | OOC: So we are going to have a First Minister and a Prime Minister now? ;) If we are going to do this, let's take time to do this right. SO... let's SLOWWWWW down, Ultrackia. First, why do we need two executives? If we need a separate Head of State and Head of government, what do we want to call them? What are the powers of the Head of State as compared to the Head of Government? Second, what do we want to call the legislature? If not Parliament, then what? How big should it be? I tend to like smaller numbers (makes the mental whip count a bit easier), but I think we should talk about this, rather than just shove it through quickly. I don't think anyone is super opposed to ending the monarchy now - especially because there could be some REALLY fun avenues for RP with a Monarchist Sutton opposing a Republican Hutori (If the Crown Dependency Treaty happens). But let's take our time and do this right. So, Ultrackia, why don't you propose a bill that would end the Monarchy and institute a Republic, and let us all chip in on what the final bill should be?! |

| Message | OOC: HOW TO CREATE A REPUBLIC FROM A MONARCHY IN HUTORI I think if you want to do this right, you need to do the following: 1) Use an article to change structure of the executive branch to either: A) The Head of State is also Head of Government, or B) The Head of State and Head of Government are two separate officials. If you choose option B, go to item number 2 below. If you choose option A, skip item number 2 and go to item number 3. 2) You need to enumerate the powers of the Head of State and Head of Government. For inspiration, read this wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_of_state#Constitutional_models Do you want a semi-presidential system like France? Do you want a Parliamentary system, standard or non-executive? You have to decide. Write out the powers of the Head of State and the Head of Government in the bill text. The game automatically gives the Head of State power to write treaties, and send out world-wide press releases. So, you definitely want to take a position on that. Then add an article changing the name of the Head of State to whatever you want... just make sure it doesn't match the name of the Head of Government. Depending on what powers you want to give the Head of State, you may want to consider adding some articles, perhaps on "The constitutional right and responsibility to propose a cabinet to the legislature." If we are clear here, skip to item 4. 3) You will want the Head of State to match the Head of Government. So, you can change the formal name of the Head of State to the same thing as the Head of Government, or you can change them both to something new - maybe President? The way the game mechanics will work, the game would now vote for HoS/HoG candidates and select one each election. That person would be guaranteed to be in the cabinet. We good here? Move on to Item 4. 4) Make sure to eliminate titles of nobility or make sure no one can grant them. 5) You'll probably want to change the flag, it has a crown on it.
