MessageMr Speaker,

As announced today by the HBC, we will only look to continue our coalition with the SNP if they agree to withdraw support for the abolition of the monarchy. The way they vote on this cabinet proposal will give us our answer.

MessageMr Speaker,

As it was the monarchy that supported the semi-sovereign independence of the Isle of Sutton, the SNP are concerned that a main goal of this cabinet will be to end the monarchy. As any move against the monarchy in Sutton is against the Crown Dependency treaty, the Suttonite subjects of the Crown would not have to worry about their monarch being stripped from them. However, we are concerned that any attempt to remove the Monarchy in the Comminwealth is not the will of the people. Then again, who are we in Sutton to force the Monarchy to remain in the Commonwealth if the people truly do want their Monarch gone?

Therefore, We will join this coalition only if our Labour Party colleagues agree not to bring a Republic up for a vote this term. We propose a two vote system: 1) This term, the Prime Minister promises to put forth a bill asking for a vote on the status of the Monarchy next term. If the vote fails, then those in government promise not to bring forth a monarchy bill until after the election of 4480. 2) If the vote passes, then interest groups for and against the monarchy will have through the next election to campaign on the merits of the monarchy. Furthermore, political leaders will have time to craft a well-written bill and seek public support. After the election of 4476, that bill will go up for a vote.

Is this amenable to my friend, the leader of the Labour Party and member for Prosperity Cove? If it is not, then we will no longer caucus with the Labour Party and seek partners elsewhere.

MP for Sutton East

MessageMr. Speaker,

The Labour Party agree to the terms laid forth by the member for Sutton East, as we are not yet sure how any end of the Monarchy might impact organized Labour.

MessageMr. Speaker,

This is excellent news from the Labour Party. Should an "end to the monarchy" bill come forward other than the process we describe above we will vote against it, resign from our cabinets posts, and call for new elections. Our coalition partners and opposition have been warned.

MP for Sutton East
Foreign Minister
