Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

I see no reason why people should be barred from obtaining an identity card from the government if they want one. After all, they are not being forced to have it or carry it. If people want one, they should bloody well be given one! |

Message | Identity cards are a ridiculous concept. This has been an issue raised in many countries. It is only a response to the fear of terrorism really, it is completely uncalled for. And as the SDP has raised, it should be either mandatory or not at all. What is the point of them if only a small percentage of people would actually register, it is just a waste of resources. |
Date | 21:37:54, March 20, 2006 CET | From | Christian Democratic Union | To | Debating the Voluntary Government-Issued Identity Cards |
Message | there's nothing wrong with voluntary cards, they merely serve as ID for those who want to use a credit card, but lack a passport or driver's liscense. |
