| Message | Assembly, It is time that we bring an end to the authoritarian and arbitrary system of national service. It neglects freedom of choice for the individual and the differing skills that youth possess upon completing education. Yes, it is true that some people will want to join the military when they finish school, but it is also the case that many will not and should be the individual's choice as to whether or not they serve in the military. I absolutely commend our service personnel and wish to be the first in this debate to thank them for all they do for us, but I do not believe school leavers should be forced to serve in any capacity, and believe it is right to allow our young people decide what they do and when they do it. We are the Freedom Party after all... |
