Message | The Kirlawa Democratic Labour Party opposes this legislation incredibly strongly. Firstly the faith that would be an official state religion isn't stated - which I feel is incredibly important in legislation of this type. Secondly as a diverse, multi-faith party the KDL cannot back any legislation that would seek to put any restrictions on any religious group. Historically its minority religious groups that are the ones that face the most problems when the state interferes in religious; and our outreach to the Veritan Church in particular demonstrates significant opposition to this legislation. The third reason is that the legislation seeks to criminalise swathes of the population in an incredibly harmful way. The Gender Identity provisions need to be looked at especially closely; not only would that effectively criminalise transgender people from living in the way that they wish, it also entrenches un-scientific policy into the heart of our law and I believe that is wrong. I call on the good people of all parties to oppose this legislation, for the good of Kirlawa. Ciara Ní Béara; Justice Spokesman + Chair, Alliance of Hosian Socialists. |
