| Laecanian Law on Enterprises Senators, In Selucia we enjoy the blessings of a Cooperative Commonwealth, one where wage labor has been abolished, capital subordinate to labor, and the market, though not eliminated, has been returned to its proper place as a tool in the hands of democratic citizens rather than an instrument of domination. However, our cooperative economy suffers from the fact that most firms are too small to take full advantage of economies of scale. In order to strengthen our cooperative sector and increase democratic participation in our economy, we propose the establishment of a strong public sector that will play a strategic role in the economy. By re-nationalizing major firms and re-establishing large SOEs we can reduce costs at all levels and provide the cooperative sector with inexpensive inputs that will guarantee competitive manufacturing conditions in the markets. Provided that SOEs remained governed democratically and autonomously, the establishment of a powerful and large public sector will strengthen rather than weaken the cooperative sector.
