| Aebutian Law on Abortion Senators, Abortion has long been championed as an instrument for the liberation of women and for granting them control over their own bodies. However, what abortion advocates have failed to consider is the long-term social impact of an overly liberal abortion policy. Freely available abortion as a back-up to birth control results in women choosing to delay childbearing until the mid 30s, resulting in the decline in the social responsibility of Selucians to raise more and more virtuous citizens for the Republic. Abortion leads to emotional trauma and results in unstable marital and social relationships, thus leading to the breakdown of the social bonds necessary for Republican solidarity. And easy access to abortion has devalued children, diminishing the value of producing and caring for children and making them seem like an option instead of a social obligation. It is thus time to implement stricter limits on abortion in order to make sure that this extreme procedure is available exclusively for those that truly need it and eliminating frivolous abortions. Should this bill pass abortion shall only be permitted in cases of extreme emergency, including to save the life of the woman, to preserve her physical or mental health health, and on socioeconomic grounds. All other instances of abortion shall be against the law. The government shall continue to provide abortion funding for those in need. Philomena Aebutia Senatrix |
