Description[?]:
Arranged marriages are a traditional custom in parts of Vanukean society, particularly in the Ahmadi community. So long as coercion is not involved, there should be no law against parents helping to arrange marriages for their children. Research shows arranged marriages are generally very stable, because the two people involved know a lot about each other before they marry, respect each other and have realistic expectations about what to expect from the relationship, as well as the support of the families on both sides. Husn Vrkz-Krlmék Leader of the Ám'ádíakai Spjogad OOC: To clarify some points, in case of confusion. 1. The phrase "are legal and binding" is interpreted here to simply mean that arranged marriages are allowed, not that the two parties are legally/contractually obliged to marry at the moment the arranged marriage is agreed to by the respective parents. 2. "Arranged marriage" is interpreted here to simply mean that the parents proposed the marriage, and the couple consented, not that coercion was involved. |
