Bill: Criminal Voting Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: National Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 4496

Description[?]:

The National Party proposes that criminals should no longer be able to vote while serving the duration of their punishment. The denial of basic freedoms is established through incarcerating criminals and we believe that this should be supplemented through the denial of the right to vote while criminals have forfeited their rights as citizens.

Upon release, with the prospect of becoming fully engaged citizens once more following the positive role of education and rehabilitation inside prison the rehabilitated convict would be further rewarded by having their full citizenship rights restored.

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation.

Random quote: "From my point of view, the killing of another, except in defense of human life, is archistic, authoritarian, and therefore, no anarchist can commit such deeds. It is the very opposite of what anarchism stands for." - Jo Labadie
