History:
https://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/History_of_Barmenistan

Ethnic groups:

The dominant ethnicity in Barmenistan is the Bihezi people, closely related to the Aldegarian (Iranian) people. The Bihezis have long been culturally dominated by their Jelbic conquerors and thus many speak both the Bihezi and Brmek languages with near-equal fluency.

Kathurans, based on Arameans/Assyrians, are the largest minority in Barmenistan, and they have inhabited the island of Kathuristan since before the settlement of Jelbics. Kathuran speak the Kathuran language and most Kathurans are Hosian (Christian).

The Brmeks are a Jelbic speaking people who settled in Barmenistani some time between. 100 BCE and c. 50 CE. They conquered the several Bihezi principalities and assumed cultural and political dominance for the next several centuries. They speak Brmek (conlang) which is closely related to the Vanukeans, Pntek and Jelbek languages. Brmeks tend to be Ahmadi (Muslims)

There are also significant minorities of Arev Mardik (Armenian), and Seluco-Barmenian (mixed Brmek-Selucian, i.e. Roman)

Religions:

Being the birthplace of three religions, Ahmadism, Felinism, and the Ruhi Faith, Barmenistan is a religiously heterogeneous country. Barmenistan also has significant Hosian and Yeudi communities.

The most widely practiced religion in Barmenistan is Ahmadism, a religion founded in 1186 that believes Akim to be the only God and Ahmad to be his Prophet. Most Ahmadis in Barmenistan are Israi (Sunni), with a significant Halawi (Alevi) minority.

Felinism is an animalistic religion born in Barmenistan in the 30th century and worshiping cats as divine beings, built upon the shamanistic beliefs of the Jelbic peoples with heavy influences from Selucian Paganism (Roman Polytheism) as practiced by Seluco-Barmenians.

Hosianism is a religion founded in 1 CE that believes Eliyahu of Yishelem to be the Spirit of God and Savior of mankind. The largest Hosian denomination in Barmenistan is the Barmenian Apostolic Church, an autocephalous (independent) member of the Apostolic Church of the East (Oriental Orthodox Churches). The Aurorian Patriarchal Church (Roman Catholic Church) and Oseism (Ebionites) have large minorities.

Many Barmenistanis adhere to the Ruhi Faith, a new religion founded in 4276 in Barmenistan, based on a belief in the fundamental validity of all religions and the unity of humanity, and believing in a number of successive "Messiahs" identified with the founders of the major religions, the most recent being Ismail Rabban, a 43rd century Barmenian.
