Message | Joining in with this treaty established a free-trade agreement between our nation and Barmenistan. Barmenistan (and its stable, efficient political traditions) is an important ally in Terra. Also, 20 other nations have already signed on to this. We need to push for more open, cooperative alliances across the world. This is an important step. The Citizens Party is currently considering drawing up original treaties for more geographically close nations. |

Message | Oh... I get it. So, we fold to peer pressure? Just because they do it does not mean we should. |

Message | I am interested in your reasons to not support it. I thought a good conservative like yourself would be interested in expanding markets, particularly free ones. Are in you in favor of tariffs and taxes? |

Message | This may sound stupid, but this is not about free trade. I do not think we should sign any treaty. We believe in what we believe in. Leave all our options open. |

Message | The Citizens Party appreciates your candor. But this IS about free trade and open relations with our allies. Having good global relations also increases our national security. |

Message | That right there is called "politics." That is not good. If give them free trade, it should not matter if we sign their treaty. We already fulfill the treaty, so signing it is just an act to gain political brownie points. |
Date | 01:40:36, March 23, 2006 CET | From | Centre Démocratique | To | Debating the Barmenistan Free Trade Agreement: Round 2 |
Message | Cooperation and mutual agreement amount to other things besides "brownie points." |
Date | 23:37:51, March 23, 2006 CET | From | Free Conservative Party | To | Debating the Barmenistan Free Trade Agreement: Round 2 |
Message | They amount to more because of the brownie points. That is how the world works. And it should. |
