Bill: Concerning closed and union shops.
Details
Submitted by[?]: Parti de la Líberation du Peuple
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 4499
Description[?]:
The current laws allow for the operation of agency shops, but not for the operation of union and closed shops. Why? Though however hard we try, at the time of writing private industry still exists within Kanjor. Why, then, are trade unions prohibited from operating their own private institutions that are exclusive to them? Are trade unions not founded on the fundamental presupposition that the value of any given good or commodity necessarily derives from the labor of the individual? Is this not a presupposition that not only we as a people agree with, but every orthodox economist of the Kanjorian school of thought as well? The PLP proposes that the ban on union and closed shops be lifted as to enrich our already primarily worker-controlled economy, and to further our great nation. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Closed shops are places of employment where only members of a specific union are allowed to work; union shops can hire non-members, but these have to become members after a certain time; agency shops can hire non-members, who have to pay a fee to cover the unions costs. All three are erected by union agreements. (Only valid if unions are legal)
Old value:: Agency shops are legal, but closed shops and union shops are not.
Current: Union shops and agency shops are legal, but closed shops are not.
Proposed: This issue is decided by local governments.

Message | I should add that such a proposal should be placed in the hands of those who shall be affected by it directly, rather than have it dictated by the whims of silly politicians far off in the capital. |

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
