Message | Why has our president so much power? We believe that the people in their local municipalities should decide for themselves how to govern. Additionally we believe in a strong parliamentary system - the parliament makes the government and the head of state should only be a ceremonial figure. The ruling party has been caught in many authoritarian scandals and we shall expose them - nevertheless such scandals can altogether be prevented, if we have a more democratic and parliamentary system. Even if we would've wanted to misuse it, it would be impossible. Does the government have any right to force its citizens to tell their religion? No! We believe that this is morally wrong and is leading to discrimination on the field of law. This is (or at least should be a secular country) and what someone believes is not a matter of government, unless it is endangering others. |

Message | We could only agree with Article 3. Religion registration can be a bit useless. As to why we need a powerful Forseti (President) "Our country needs a steady guiding hand. If we allow the parliament to bicker over matters like the formation of a cabinet, our country cannot function. We believe that the people vote for a president, in order to DO things not to OVERSEE the government procedure. That is why people put their trust and vote for a President. To represent them and RULE FOR THEM. Therefore we cannot agree with you. We could never agree with that sentiment" Head of Government Freyja Gulikssdotir-Þórirsson |

Message | The prime minister's, Freyja, response is very inmature and the voters have a right to know, how irresponsible and frankly comical his stance is. All countries with a semi-presidential system (where the president chooses the government) are prone to serious instability due to bruffles between the president and forming majority in parliament. Since the government will be made by parties of the parliament, these have to negotiate. A president is never involved in normal parliamentary systems. Here, a one-sided president scews negotiations and could potentially plunge our country into chaos. But then again, the government of Mr. Freyja is nothing more or less than chaos and silliness, and the voters can put a stop to this by marking an X next to SD in the next elections. The point of democracy is to for the people to rule and not for the president to rule the people, that is where we fundamentally disagree with the Gray party and we support democracy, traditional northen parliamentarism and down-to-earth politics. The government's response is simply silly and angry, thus unsuitable for this republic, which should be great. -Frodi Lukasson SD |
