Message | Centralized administration tends to be less efficient due to the limited amount of information a single political body can process. Administration of something as organic a part of a particular community as its homeless people should be left to that community itself; the federal government should only make sure that there is in general some redistribution of resources from richer areas to poorer ones, but not take over administration of every homeless shelter. |

Message | First of all, we’re not going to takeover every homeless shelter private shelters are still going to exist.Second of all, some local governments would ban homeless shelters and hide their homelessness problems just to make their housing market look better then they are, which we are trying to prevent. |

Message | What's to stop the same happening on the federal level? The federal government could just as well ignore homelessness throughout the union if beholden to special interests. By decentralizing the process, there is a higher chance that signals from the grassroots reach the government, since it is structurally closer to the people involved. |

Message | We are not implying you are, but this bill would move the decision-making higher-up in the hierarchy. Unfortunately there can never be a fully corruption-free government, but the more layers of bureaucracy there are between the citizen and the decision-maker, the more potential avenues for corrupt behavior. In addition, when some body holds lots of power it naturally becomes more attractive to special interests for they stand to gain more as well if they manage to get a hold of it. The only things that should be administered on the federal level are those that would be less efficient on a state level, such as the military, or certain parts of the education system to guarantee a minimum of shared values. There is however no benefit to handling homeless shelters federally; particular communities only stand to lose from the increased bureaucracy and loss off attunement to local particularities and needs. |
