Bill: Pay for Your Own Education
Details
Submitted by[?]: Free Conservative Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2205
Description[?]:
If people want to give so people go to additional school, they can. We should not force them to. If people get to decide what to do with their money, that is closer to a true Democracy than anything else. The difference here is: People must WORK and be INFORMED about their country. What a concept. |

Message | As much as you guys like to say it is, this stuff is not really "free," is it? This means lower taxes and more choice. Yay! PreSchool: this will make it much easier on the private schools anyway. If people want a service, they should pay for it themselves. Higher ed: People will continue to give to scholarship programs. This way, colleges cannot charge whatever they want. Citezens Party- This is, after all, corporate welfare, hmmm? |

Message | Pre-schools and universities are not "corporations." At least not in Jelbania. Their ultimate goal is not to make a profit, but to educate. The Citizens Party vehemently opposes these 2 proposals. Those living in the Free Republic of Jelbania expect a certain level of social justice and certain avenues toward upward mobility. Pre-schools and universities are not meant for only those who can afford them. They are meant for every citizen in Jelbania who qualifies. |

Message | Free is not free; everyone still pays. That's what student loans are for. Besides, the current law undermines the whole system. The smart kids should get scholarships and are chould be able to go to school. The ones who don't make it do not go. |

Message | Social Justice. Hmmm... Does that not mean everybody gets what they deserve? Does not their monetary status reflect what they deserve? So, then if they deserve higher education, they will be able to get it. |

Message | The Citizens Party is a bit shocked to hear that the Conservatives believe that one's monetary status should be the consideration for "deserving" higher education. So, in your world, the wealthy go to school for free from scholarships, because the majority will have above-average intelligence and proper credentials after years of pricey, private education. And the poor kid from the below-average school system who is smart enough to go, rightly deserves a lifetime of paying off student loan debt. This is not the kind of Jelbania we want for our children and grandchildren. |

Message | No, no, no. The people with money can PAY for college. I did NOT mean the wealthy should get scholarships just because they are wealthy. The wealthy are wealthy because they work to get there. They should be rewarded by us NOT stealing their money. If they want to give so others can go to school, they can. If that poor kid does not have the money to go, let him get the money. He can work or raise the money. The wealthy are wealthy for a reason. They deserve their money because they worked for it. |

Message | The Citizens Party truly does not believe that all wealthy people deserve their money nor do we believe that all wealthy people worked for it. There are scores of people with trust funds and large inheritances who never need to work a day in their lives (if they don't want to). These sort of people do not deserve the bank accounts they posses. Pre-school and higher education should be universally free to all Jelbanians, an extension of our national social contract. We must move into the process of social mobility, social equality, and social justice. |

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, special care must be taken to ensure realism is maintained when role-playing a government controlled by an ethnic and/or religious minority. If it is to be supposed that this government is supported by a majority of the population, then this should be plausibly and sufficiently role-played. The burden of proof is on the player or players role-playing such a regime to demonstrate that it is being done realistically |
