Bill: Official State Religion Repeal
Details
Submitted by[?]: Lodamese Democratic Progressive Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 4548
Description[?]:
9 years ago, a bill had passed the Presidium that declared Hosianism as the official state religion, made all blasphemy a criminal offence, and required all schools to be religious.(http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=594323) This was a disastrous blow on freedom of religion. Also, this legislation was nothing more than a submission to fascism in exchange for forcing a religion on the people. No longer. We are proposing legislation to repeal the recent declaration of Hosianism as the official state religion and to reform on how religion is handled in our country. While there has been some progress as the result of a recent bill that made membership to the state religion voluntary rather than mandatory(http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=594523), we don't think that's enough. We believe the government shouldn't be involved in religion, much less force our schools to teach it and punish any opposition to it. |
