MessageMr. Speaker,

We fully agree with the NPP that taxation is too high generally, and that in particular, the highest marginal rate of tax - at 72% - is excessive. However:

(a) We need to see tax reductions accompanied by public spending reductions, so as to avoid an excessive budget deficit.

(b) We would like to see the benefits of a tax reduction extended to those at the bottom as well as those at the top.
