MessageMr Speaker,

I'll begin the proceedings by appealing to all parties in voting "Yay" on this motion. We as a party, believe that the great citizens of the nations should be given the choice to bank with a state owned bank. We disagree that only private banking systems are in place, and believe that we're giving too much power to the private sector.

I would welcome any thoughts, or suggestions.

MessageMr Speaker,

I hate to oppose my honourable friend's motion but I'm afraid I must, I do not understand this notion of "too much power being given to the private sector". The private sector is the only sector that is legitimate to be operating for-profit industries, a state owned bank is utterly pointless and will result in more theft of taxpayer money to pay for this unnecessary vanity project that will not yield any specific benefits. The government already has the power to regulate private institutions if need be, this is a totally unnecessary step.

I yield
Theresa April, Leader of the Neoliberal Party
