Description[?]:

Dear Senators,

It has alarmed me greatly as the Food and Agriculture Minister the kind of abuse of patent laws that large agricultural companies do all the time. Large companies such as Solentian Growers and Solentian Seed Co. are taking regular seeds and plants and patented them. For example last year the Solentian Seed Growers Inc. sued a local coop for selling corn seeds to grow. They patented Corn Seeds!!! This bill will eliminate this from happening abolishing patents in the regular seeds and plants. The only patented plants are plants that the owner of the copyright creates himself. Existing plants or plants/seeds that have no proof of being created cannot be patented. GMO's are another subject I would like to highlight on. These GMO's are scary stuff, it is breaking the laws of nature and changing with the very things that God created. I find this also alarming and dangerous. Humans do not need to be changing plants DNA so that they grow better, that is what grafting and breeding are for. I would like to see this changed as well. Also, companies are putting Mercury onto crops that they later sell to people to eat. Usually, I am not for more regulations but this is getting out of hand. This is hurting farmers that are making a living off the land. Large corporations are taking patents off of things they NEVER created, then they are charging through the roof prices because they are the only ones who can sell it. This boosts capitalism and competition as well.

Part 1: No one can patent seeds unless they were the first person to create this type of plant.

Part 2: Companies cannot patent common plants, the definition of this will be spelled out in the court of law.

Part 3: Companies cannot sue farmers and coops for using/selling their product unless they have firm evidence.

Part 4: Companies cannot put Hazardous Chemicals onto crops that they are selling only chemicals that are safe by Food and Agricultural Standards.

Part 5: Farmers and Coops are protected from being

Submitted Respectfully
