MessageMr Speaker,
the Government with this bill want assure to foreign governments, and in this moment we are talking about Governments, not "anyone", that we are disponible to talk with everyone, because our nation wants privileging the diplomacy above all.
And, respecting the most basic rules of international diplomacy, the diplomats usually are protected by laws in the nation where they serve, normally to protect them as representatives of third nations.

About what you are talking about, not, it is not this the case. The security chech, as the law states, are aimed to to confirm visitor identities. If someone should be identified as a threats, sure he must be within some lists of ours, and thus we will be able to reject them from the country.
If not, what our borders authorities should verify within an airport? Proceding to contact the countries of origin of each traveller in Istalia? It would be impossible and would block the entire country.
Our borders authorities with a cursory security checks are fully preparate to control that no relevant menaces can enter the country. The technology and the procedures are with us.

Thank you

- Jad Salameh, Minister of Foreign Affairs
