Bill: Axis Mundi Revolution - God is Dead!
Details
Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2208
Description[?]:
The Axis Mundi Revolution seeks to overthrow the work done by the previous leadership. Power to The People! God is Dead! Once again - we propose the Capital be relocated to a more rational location... this time, we specify that the St. Vodinsburg Chapter House and Cathedral become the locations of the new Convocation Hall and seat of Government. At least then - these anachronistic structures will be being put to rational use. Other than that - Axis Mundi Revolution wants 'god' out of our streets, and where 'it' belongs... on the scrapheap of history. All in all, this is a comprehensive anti-religion platform... a fact we do not try to hide. God is Dead! Power to The People! |

Message | Again, while the RLP is in favor of the relocation efforts, we will have to vote against this bill due to the obvious poison pills attached in Articles 2 and 3. We cannot vote in favor of restricting freedom of expression in any form. |

Message | Our thanks to the AM RLP - this was always intended to be a Bill dedicated to (I'm afraid) legislation we KNEW our more moderate friends in the AM RLP would never be able to condone. We thank the AM RLP for their consideration. |

Message | We're voting against this because we don't want the capital city moved. |

Message | That is your choice. The Axis Mundi Revolution believes we will see the Capital moved... in time. The PRP is merely delaying the inevitable. |

Message | We object to the title of this bill. If God is dead, by implication he was once alive. This, of course, is impossible. |

Message | Of course, the AM PSS is absolutely right.... but the title is a literary reference, to Friedrich Nietzsche's statement "Gott ist tot" - from "The Gay Science: The Madman": "God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we, murderers of all murderers, console ourselves? That which was the holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet possessed has bled to death under our knives. Who will wipe this blood off us? With what water could we purify ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we need to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we not ourselves become gods simply to be worthy of it". |

Message | I have to disagree with the PSS on this. Dead means not alive, not having previously been alive. For something to die, it must have been alive; but for something to be dead it mearly needs to not be alive now. For example, Disco is dead (thank God). |

Message | Disco is dead! Blasphemy! |

Message | Disco was an Abomination in the sight of the Lord, and thousands of music lovers and millions of goldfish rejoice in it's demise! |

Message | Who was St Vodin? |

Message | One assumes he was one of the patron saints of the Viking settlers - the name is roughly equivalent to 'Odin'. |

Message | To the RLP:Surely death can only exist where a being was once alive ? One cannot be dead without having posessed a previous state of being alive? |

Message | Response to the PSS: "1 : deprived of life : having died 2 a (1) : having the appearance of death : DEATHLY <in a dead faint> (2) : lacking power to move, feel, or respond : NUMB b : very tired c (1) : incapable of being stirred emotionally or intellectually : UNRESPONSIVE <dead to pity> (2) : grown cold : EXTINGUISHED <dead coals> 3 a : INANIMATE, INERT <dead matter> b : BARREN, INFERTILE <dead soil> c : no longer producing or functioning : EXHAUSTED <a dead battery>" Note 2c and more so 3 - to be dead does not necessarily imply having been alive. Message | Cool. I had actually kind of nutted out that you are probably right, if for no other reason than the phrase "a dead planet" |
