An opinion poll was held among the citizens of the United States of Baltusia. The subject of the opinion poll was Public executions (if death penalty is legal). When asked what their opinions were, the following choices were made: 32.57%, the majority of them, voted that “Executions are always carried out in private; only necessary personnel are allowed to be present, which might include spiritual advisers.” 17.77% voted that “Executions are always carried out in private; however, family members, the victim and the victim's relatives are allowed to be present.” 7.00% voted that “Executions may be carried out in public and/or be broadcast on television.” 27.21% voted that “Executions are always carried out in public and/or broadcast on television.” 15.45% voted that “Local government decide the legality of public executions.” Considering how inhumane and traumatizing it would be for the family members of the criminal, how disturbing it would be to the victim and the victim’s family, the current policy must be changed. We deliver justice and fairness, not additional psychological burden to those people upon witnessing the execution which will haunt them forever. Baltusia, being a democratic country, upholding the fact that the voice of the majority must always win, The Baltusian Conservative Party proposes the Public Executions Act of 4606 which will change the current policy into making executions a private one at all times and that only necessary personnel will be allowed to witness, of which includes spiritual advisers. |
