Description[?]:
Speaker, A government has a few priorities that has greater precedence than others. The satisfaction of basic humans needs such as clothing, food and shelter. The right for each man and woman to work. And of course, the security and safety of this nation’s citizens. That is why I no look at the state of our defence and see a government that does not only neglect our national security but engages in practices that can only be seen as worsening it. You ask what our policy is. It is, quite simply, the policy of a strong national defence, independent foreign policy and solidarity with our people and the world. It is to act for peace through deterring nation from attacking us and through building brotherhood with other nations. You ask what our aim is. It is Speaker that the perseverance of this nation in grievous times. We have several proposals that would bolster our defence, defuse our provocative foreign policy and create security for our citizen in case of calamity. For us to be a strong voice and independent voice, not subjugated to another nations whims and desires. Selma Steinsdottir, Leader of United Labour Front |

Message | Speaker, Many of these proposals are contradicting what Selma Steinsdottir claims to desire: a strong military. Labour wants these things but then decides to end our nuclear and chemical weapons laws. Our ability to use those weapons at a minute's notice makes us a force to be reckoned and lessens our reliance for conventional military forces. Einar Jónsson Minister of Defense |

Message | Speaker, I don’t know if the right honourable member of parliament did not listen, did not understand or did just decide to lie. We do not propose an end to neither of our programme, however we do propose a change in our doctrine. We will no longer use those kinds of horrendous weapons unprovoked, but only in retaliation and defence. We propose a doctrine to deter attacks, rather than provoking attacks which is the policy of this government! Selma Steinsdottir, Chairman of United Labour Front |
