Mr. Speaker,

This proposal failed to reach majority support from the LGC and thus the party will be voting against it.

The opposition mainly held the belief that the government shouldn't fund private education due to the excessive costs adding on to the already high costs of maintaining the public education system, as well as others citing they should be entirely private including source of funding. Proponents of the measure saw this as a good opportunity for the select schools approved of funding to get financial help from the government and better ensure such schools were adequately funded.
