Message | Is this a better proposal? Citizens - 7; SF - 5; Conservatives - 1; |
Date | 07:33:31, April 01, 2006 CET | From | Centre Démocratique | To | Debating the Cabinet Proposal of July 2208 |
Message | I know I could have a cabinet all to myself, but that is undemocratic. The Citizens Party believes in cooperative governance. (At this point, cabinet positions do not have much power. Supposedly, this will change in the future.) |

Message | This is indeed a better proposal. The DLP can support this until such time as the DLP holds the majority of parliamentary seats. OOC: How come it is undemocratic to have a cabinet all of one party? It's what we do in Britain =D It seems to me you have a majority of 32, which is close to what John Major had at one point. |

Message | That is true, but this what we traditionally have done in Jelbania. However, I have been interested in pursuing only 2 party cabinets in the future. Putting together "real" coalitions could be interesting. |

Message | No. But the US does not have a parliamentary system. The US has a separation of the executive, the legislature and the judiciary. |

Message | If you are in the cabinet, C_Braun, you are a government party. If you aren't in the cabinet, you're an opposition party. It might be beneficial to read up on the British political system (or Canadian, Australian, Indian, any English speaking parliamentary democracy). |

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI). |
