MessageThis proposal is excellent! We should have proposed it ourselves! It is high time the health of the nations citizenry was properly provided for. A healthier nation, a healthier workforce, a better country.

This receives the full support of the DLP.

MessageAnd who pays for the government?

This is an anti-freedom act. I think you guys know me well enough to guess my stance on this one.

Also, it is quite unfair of the C's P to pass all these laws seeing as how they can pass them without other support.

MessageThe DLP disagrees. It is called democracy. The Citizens Party currently has the majority, the nation voted for their majority, therefore there is no unfairness or illegitimacy.

MessageSpeaking of democracy... THIS IS NOT DEMOCRATIC!!!!! If people WANT to pay for others' drugs, they can; THAT is democracy.

MessageThe Democratic Labour Party cannot see the Conservative argument. The government provides, quite rightly, free healthcare. It is logical that the government should provide free medicines.

MessageWhy do we not just pay for everything for everybody? Share the wealth? Take from the succesful and give to the less succesful.

Because that is not right. Rich people are not rich because they sit on their butts all day; they work just like normal people. It is simply not fair to take from them. If they want to give free meds, they can. In fact, anyone can give to people so they can pay for their meds! And I think "free" health care is a rediculus notion. HELLO, IT IS NOT FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The people still pay for it!

MessageOf course, but instead of paying for it directly at huge cost, the people pay through tax. In a private healthcare system the emphasis is on profit. In a free healthcare system the emphasis is on the patient.

MessageOf sourse private business is bent on profit! But through this leaning, things get done. If they want money, they must provide good health care! If they provide good health care, people will come. Public business is not the same. If the people do not have a choice as to whichn hospital or clinic they can go to, the public hospitals can give almost no care and get away with it! Capitalism works! Stuff like this is proven not to! ie. in the US, veterans get free health care at hospitals and clinics for veterans. You know what happens there? The health care is terrible! Socialism simply does not work!

MessageThe U.S. does not exist in Terra. But systems such as these can and do work.

OOC: All over the world. Cuba has the best healthcare system in the world, and it is completely nationalised, and completely free. The NHS is excellent in Britain, and has been for sixty years. Private healthcare is good only if you can afford it, and that just is not morally right.

MessageTo the Conservatives: The Citizens Party is aware that we can pass whatever we want because of our majority status. However, we have restrained ourselves from doing that. We have proceeded with the normal routine of reasonable debate. It would be unethical of us to take advantage of this situation.
