Message | Its simple if you cant actually help Likatonia in any way why should you be allowed to reside here without actually contributing? |

Message | How about people fleeing persecution in poorer countries? they have not necessarily any education or qualifications. If menial work/cleaning counts as something they can do then you are only banning disabled people from entering Likatonia. Just because they are capable doesnt mean they will do it, or will be able to find a job. so if you are seriously wanting to implement this you would have to put all immigrants under some sort of contract whereby they are only allowed to remain here while in work. personally I disagree with this. national interest is one consideration in an immigration policy, but compassion is another. |

Message | The LFP is in favor of a completely open-borders immigration policy, although we'd support one caveat - immigrants are not allowed to partake in any government-run social program until they have resided in the nation for a set number of years. This should help prevent free-loaders without abandoning compassion. |

Message | So on the other side of the coin you two are more than happy for people to enter our country and leech off our Taxpayers? |

Message | LFP: is this the same as our refugee policy? because if this includes refugees, who are destitute and fleeing a brutal regime, they are going to need government aid for a few months to allow them to get somwhere to live and immediate food/clothing - they can be left to stand on their own feet after that, if you wish. |

Message | could we just clarify what we are voting for here? |
Date | 23:07:53, June 14, 2005 CET | From | National Centrist Party | To | Debating the Immigration |
Message | Oh, we're voting against allowing the RWLP to decide who is allowed into the country. We're also debating potential future immigration policies. Refugee policy is not the same as standard immigration policy. |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
