Bill: Fair Strikes

Details

Submitted by[?]: Free Conservative Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2210

Description[?]:

People should have the right to strike if they want. It tells the employer that something is wrong.

However, if striers cannot be fired, it is a monstrously unfair system. If let run amok without consequenses, striking workers could get whatever they want.

MessageYou forget that it is hard for employers to fire strikers because then they cannot do anything. Strikers will only be fired if they demand something ridiculus.

This levels the playing field and makes it fair. Everyone could use a pay raise, but if the employer cannot pay it, there are many willing unemployed out there.

MessageThe DLP could not possibly support this bill.

Allowing employers the right to sack striking workers is the most ridiculous thing we can think of. It is like something out of the ancient past! It will mean any strike is worthless, as the employer may just fire the striking workers and employ replacement workers.

Article 2 has some merit, however, we do believe that doctors, nurses, the emergency services should, if striking, have to provide a minimum amount of work.

Therefore, the DLP does not support this bill, and urges all other parties to join it.

MessageWe cannot allow employers to fire striking employees at their leisure. That is an infringement on labor rights.

MessageWhat about the rights of the employer?!?!?!

Did you know that if an employer fires strikers, he has no workers????????? Because of this, workers would only be fired in the most extreme demands of strikers.

Strikers should not control the world. There must be balance.

MessageIf you want to do something , you better believe in it. This bill ensures that strikers will THINK before they strike. Here we go to that "People are not Stupid" discussion of ours.

You know your problems? You think people cannot take responsibility for there actions. It all fits. Taking away punishments for school children, not letting employers fire strikers who are demanding unreasonable things, and generaly just doing everything for the people. That is not my view of Democracy.

MessageLet's be honest though. Employers always have the upper hand, in terms of pay, benefits, work hours, pensions, sick time, etc. Employers make the rules. However, an open society should provide workers the ability to strike without fear of losing their job.

In regards to taking away punishments for school children: Jelbania is trying something new, we are looking outside the box. Perhaps taking away hostility between student and teacher, we can establish a cooperative learning environment.

MessageActually, without the ability to punish children, I believe student-teacher relations will go to the dumps.

MessageLet us think. Employees go into unions to carry huge weight. Employers cannot. Employees decide wether to take a job or not. Employers cannot. Employees can temporarily cease to work to get what they want. Employers cannot temporarily stop paying employees. You see my point?

Overall, if an employee does not like his job, he can simply quit. Amazing. You take ALL the power from employers to protect that which realy does not need protection.

MessageThe DLP is amazed the Conservative Party had the gall to claim it was not the party of the rich.

The Citizen's Party is correct. Power lies with the employer, not the employee. To give the employer the right to sack strikers will be to effectively end strikes, and worker's rights, in the Republic.

The DLP remains vehemently opposed to this dangerous bill.

MessageThis is not a question of whether people are stupid. It is a question of worker's rights.
