Description[?]:
Our party has come to a consensus that the current drug policy of legalization and regulation of Saridan offers significant harm reduction. However, as a society, we serve to benefit from a decrease in drug use — we must go further and outright ban the advertising of substances that cause a significant net social negative and only lead to an increased burden on our medical system. Furthermore, the presence of public drinking and intoxication can lead to an unwelcoming atmosphere, restrictions on its use publicly is necessary to foster a more family-friendly public environment. These restrictions are as follows: 1. Alcohol may not be sold in facilities near schools, public parks, or playgrounds. 2. Alcohol sale restrictions may be applied in areas of high crime, although consumption shall remain legal. 3. Alcohol consumption is prohibited outside of one's residence and licensed outlets. These additional measures are to be enacted: 1. 50% excise tax on recreational substances with clear links (backed by scientific evidence) to cancer or other life-threatening, addictive, or incurable diseases. 2. Establishment of harm reduction centres nationwide that provide needle exchanges, also including free outpatient and subsidized inpatient rehabilitation services. 3. Mandatory classes on the effects of addictive and carcinogenic substances for those attending compulsory education. |
