Bill: Law and Order (Police) Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Jelbék Zemojad Lofrkad Prta
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2212
Description[?]:
Whereas: The government of Jelbania operates the police force of the nation on a purely national level. Whereas: This leads to decreased accountability and efficiency, as local issues are often overlooked by the national police force. However: An agency needs to exist to enforce national law and ensure that criminals cannot escape prosecution by crossing regional borders. Henceforth, should this Bill be passed into Law, the police force of Jelbania shall operate on a two tiered level, with smaller local police forces accountable to the local authority and an overall national police force accountable to the national government of the Free Republic of Jelbania. |

Old value:: There is a national police department, funded by the government.
Current: The operation and funding of the police is left to local governments.
Proposed: There is a national police department funded by the national government and there are local police departments, funded by local governments.

Message | The DLP is grateful for the positive response this bill has received. In response to the Conservatives, we do not believe a private police force is at all viable. For example, how would they get paid? More prosecutions, more money? This would lead to corruption and bias, and is not a good idea at all. But we do believe in local and national police forces, the fairest and probably most effective way of policing the country. |

Message | I see your point, although there is curruption in the public system. ie. rascist police chiefs during our civil rights movement. The government cannot fix everything. |
