Bill: Protecting Worker's Rights Act of October 2009
Details
Submitted by[?]: Proletariat Revolution Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2210
Description[?]:
In acknowleding the worker's right to a safe and secure environment in which they are adequately paid based on their skills, it is hereby proposed that in the event of a strike that all workers have their opinion heard and that there is a true majority. Not all workers would be able to vote due to varying reasons and it is by this logic that we propose this law modification. Going on strike is a big decision that can impact each individual worker's finacial stability if it goes on too long. By ensuring that a majority is always in agreement, we can thusly help protect the worker's job security and future. Further, workers who are absent would be considered when the decision is made and they'd know that their voices were heard and that uncertainty isn't a factor. |

Message | Would those in favor of this legislation wish the same standards to be applied in our voting. where a law can only be passed if approved by at least 251 votes? I don't believe that the opinions of those who chose not to vote should automatically be considered a no vote; if they want to express an opinon let them do so at the time provided. |

Message | It isn't that it counts as a 'no' vote... it is that it is NOT counted as a 'yes' vote.... in this case, abstaining is failure to approve industrial action. It does not seem unreasonable, to us, that this might require an actual 'quorum'. |
